Interior electrical faults include dome lights that stay on, lights that never come on, USB ports with no power, cigarette-lighter sockets that blow fuses, and accessories that remain powered unexpectedly.
Start with the simplest facts: is the problem isolated to one outlet or does an entire group fail? Does the circuit depend on ignition position? Is there a fuse specifically for the outlet? Are coins or conductive debris inside a 12-volt socket?
What to Look For
Do not confuse a reading with a conclusion. A meter showing 12 volts proves voltage is present at that moment; it does not automatically prove the circuit can deliver enough current under load.
Interior lights are often controlled by body modules rather than direct door switches. A door-ajar input that remains active can keep lights on and may also prevent the vehicle from going to sleep, contributing to battery drain.
Never insert metal tools into a powered accessory socket. If you suspect debris or damage, disconnect power according to the vehicle procedure before inspection.

- Verify the exact symptom before touching anything.
- Check battery condition and obvious power/ground connections when relevant.
- Check the correct fuse and connector condition.
Stop and get help if: you cannot identify a safe test point or the vehicle may move unexpectedly.
