A cabin blower motor may fail completely, work only on certain speeds, work intermittently, or run even after the vehicle is switched off. The fault may be the motor, fuse, relay, speed resistor, electronic blower controller, switch input, module, wiring, or ground.
Older resistor-pack systems often lose specific lower speeds when the resistor burns open. Newer electronic controllers can fail in different ways and may be controlled by a climate module. Do not replace the blower motor just because no air moves.
What to Look For
Do not confuse a reading with a conclusion. A meter showing 12 volts proves voltage is present at that moment; it does not automatically prove the circuit can deliver enough current under load.
If the motor is accessible and the test procedure permits, verifying power and ground at the motor while it is commanded on can quickly separate a motor fault from a control fault.
A blower motor that draws excessive current can damage resistors, controllers, or connectors. If a new resistor fails again, check the motor current and mechanical freedom instead of replacing the resistor repeatedly.

- Verify the exact symptom before touching anything.
- Check battery condition and obvious power/ground connections when relevant.
- Check the correct fuse and connector condition.
Stop and get help if: you cannot identify a safe test point or the vehicle may move unexpectedly.
