  • Testing only without product when the fault occurs under load.
  • Ignoring new noises or abnormal current because the original alarm is gone.

A Practical Breakdown Method

  1. Restore all normal settings and safety devices.
  2. Perform a controlled first movement or cycle.
  3. Verify the repaired function with relevant measurements.
  4. Run repeated cycles under realistic conditions.
  5. Confirm alarms, quality, and operator controls are normal.
  6. Hand back formally with any monitoring requirement stated.

Scenario: A chain conveyor is repaired after a seized bearing. It runs unloaded, but current remains higher than the historical value. The technician continues inspection and finds chain tension set too high during reassembly. Correcting tension brings current back to normal. The restart check prevented a second failure.

Choose one critical machine you know and apply the ideas from this chapter while it is healthy.
