Intermittent faults are difficult because the circuit may be perfect when the car is stationary in the workshop. Reproduce the conditions that trigger the problem: heat, vibration, engine movement, steering, rain, bumps or a particular harness position. Record live data so you can correlate a signal dropout with the symptom.
A controlled wiggle test means gently moving a suspect harness or connector while watching a relevant PID, meter or scope. It does not mean violently pulling wiring until something breaks. Focus on known stress points: connector strain relief, engine mounts, hinge areas, heat shields and previous repair points.
Heat can expose internal sensor or solder faults. Cooling spray and controlled warming are sometimes used professionally, but avoid creating condensation, fire risk or damage. A simple observation that a crank sensor fails only after full heat soak can already guide the test plan.
Document the failure before replacing anything. Intermittent parts are difficult to prove after the fact, and replacing a sensor without capturing the failure can hide a wiring problem until it returns.
